The Listing Process

The Listing Process from a customer perspective

In order to create a listing on an external channel it is useful to understand the process that is followed in Linnworks. Below is a summary of the listings process which follows the same steps as the UI in Linnworks.net, information on which can be found in our main Linnworks.net documentation.

When a customer wants to create a listing first a configurator must be set up for the channel. A configurator holds a set of attributes defined by the users that the customer wants to apply to all of their selected inventory items.

Once a configurator is set up a user can select the inventory item(s) that they want the configurator to apply to. The configurator holds attributes that will be applied to all of the selected inventory items listings; each configurator is channel specific. This allows a customer to minimise the amount of data they have to input into each inventory item and instead hold it on the configurator.

Once the configurator is applied, a listing template is created; this holds all of the inventory items information and the configurators applied information. This template shows the customer all of the details that are going to be pushed to the channel for validation. The template can then be "process" or listed live to the channel.

Once a template is pushed to a channel it will either succeed or return with errors - the user will need to check and ensure that all mandatory fields for that channel are populated.
